Fall Tour

What does the Fall Harvest Tour include?

The tour is divided into several stages and is scheduled to last about 1-1/2 hours. We begin at the Sheep Shoppe, and your guide takes you from there into the Viewing Gallery. Here, you'll get a first hand look at sheep milking (actual milking takes place at 5pm) and Old World cheesemaking! We want you to see the Creamery's state-of-the-art barn with automated feeding belts — watch as sheep are milked on the only rotating 'parlor' in the United States. We will taste and discuss a few of valley Shepherd's cave aged cheeses and then...

Then, board a Hay Wagon for a leisurely ride through our pastures to the Cheese Aging Cave, reminiscent of the Old World aging caves found throughout Italy and France. Tour the caves and let us show you how our cheeses are aged to perfection, a process that makes them so tasty.

Return to the Creamery aboard the Hay Wagon, enjoying a panoramic fall foliage show that only nature can provide. We can safely promise that the colorful leaves in Long Valley will make you 'ooh and aah' with delight.

Finish your tour in the Sheep Shoppe, where you will certainly want to nibble cheeses made right here at award-winning Valley Shepherd Creamery. Browse the Shoppe at your leisure, enjoying a charming and heartwarming collection of sheep products and gifts. You are welcome to bring a picnic setup and even wine to enjoy on our farm porch. At times, the cheesemaker may need to certify that your wine is indeed correct for the cheese consumed...
